Why this is in the vault

Two Anthropic items in one issue (Claude solving a frontier physics calculation in a one-prompt, week-long harness run, and a plugin portal as MCP usage grows 110x) give fresh evidence for the harness thesis and add another data point on the plugin-distribution timing question.

Mapping against Ray Data Co

Concrete connection: the plugin-portal item bears on the standing hold on the public ray-plugins surface (project_rdco_plugin_marketplace: the private brigade-house is the only dev home, and public distribution waits for an explicit greenlight). Three days ago the Claude Marketplace launch made the same point from the billing side ([[2026-09-25-alphasignal-claude-marketplace-unified-billing-llm-fingerprinting]]). Now a separate plugin portal plus a claimed 110x jump in MCP usage says the discovery surface for third-party skills is being built quickly. The newsletter gives no portal details (listing rules, review process, revenue terms), so nothing here changes the hold. It is a second nudge for the next ray-plugins distribution review to price the cost of waiting, and that review should read the primary Anthropic announcement, not this blurb.

Second connection: the physics record is a clean example of what the harness-over-model argument predicts. One prompt, a purpose-built harness ("Claude Science" driving Python and SymPy), 96 CPUs for about a week, roughly $1,000-$2,000, and a result verified by the person who set the previous eight-loop record. The capability came from the scaffold and the compute budget, with the model as the engine. That supports the position already filed in [[2026-05-11-innermostloop-harness-eats-the-model]] and the long-run autonomy framing in [[2026-05-10-alphasignal-self-improving-agents-harness]]. It is also a reference class for RDCO/phData agent pitches: "unsupervised for a week at a known dollar cost with an independent expert verifier" is a concrete acceptance-contract shape. The newsletter reports the cost and duration secondhand, so treat the figures as unverified until checked against the primary source.

Weaker items: VoiceStudio (free, local, open-source voice cloning and dubbing) overlaps the earlier local-dubbing coverage in [[2026-05-05-alphasignal-voice-pro-local-dubbing]] and matters only if RDCO ever needs voice tooling beyond the ElevenLabs setup. The blurb's own heads-up applies: model licenses vary and cloning needs consent. The Nokia/Claude hack is a novelty with no mapping.

Curation section

Zero deep-fetches this issue. The physics and portal items are the only ones that cleared the RDCO-relevance bar, and their READ MORE links were not followed because both are secondhand blurbs whose primary sources should be read in a dedicated pass if the plugin-distribution review or a harness-evidence brief needs them.

⚠️ Sponsorship

Three paid placements this issue:

The masthead "In Partnership with" slot is present but unresolved: the HTML carries only a generic partner_image alt text with a linked logo, so no sponsor name could be extracted. Consistent with most issues since 09-14.

Bias implication: standard AlphaSignal rotating-pool pattern, so treat all three as commercially motivated. None of the editorial stories (physics record, plugin portal, VoiceStudio) has a sponsor block attached. The Voices placement sits in the same list as editorial items and is styled like one, so read Signals item 2 as an ad.
