Capability-first game selection — September 12, 2026

Issue #180; PRs #203 and #204, RayDataCo/scribble-works. Founder direction: independent observed capabilities lead; age is optional guidance.

The screenshots use a temporary preview household and synthetic child. The real Cloudflare preview proof verifies authenticated reads, saving independent scissors/reading observations, exclusion of harder reading, a browser form save, stale-write refusal, anonymous refusal, and 390px/1280px layouts with loaded game previews. Test household/session/identity records were removed afterward. No production learning observations were changed and no email was sent.

Local validation: 37 preflight gates; 22 focused learning/API checks; 174 curator checks; 200 daily-worker checks, including the real child SELECT through curation, PDF packaging and outbox; full account browser suite and focused capability/filtered-discovery coverage. Actual browser screenshots and checks do not constitute a physical print or child-learning outcome study.

The public free-text AI picker still uses its existing age-guided contract and links to saved-skill recommendations. Full conversational tutoring, longitudinal learning feedback, assistance/override preferences and profile-aware model fallback/swaps are tracked in #146. Capability fit before freshness/variants is tracked in #161.

Production verified and #180 closed. See release-tracking.json and sw180-production-final.json for exact source, versions and release runs. The signed-in live walkthrough confirmed the learning form and an enabled smaller-set download without editing production observations. Remaining interface/data-inventory and release/content-handoff follow-ups are captured in #183.

Small-set correction

The production walkthrough caught the old six-game tray minimum on the learning page. PR #204 enables one through six games on that page. Both responsive tests and the real authenticated Cloudflare preview downloaded a valid two-page PDF (parent page plus one game). The synthetic PDF is retained here as sw180-live-small-playset.pdf. The regular Browse tray remains at six games.

The first static-asset check in each website release failed immediately after deployment. Full read-only verification against each saved artifact subsequently passed, including all 39 published PDF digests and the deployment contract; reruns confirmed the already-deployed candidates. Final website and daily release runs are green. No runtime settings or delivery schedule were changed.
