Research folder for Ben's Data Superhero application (2027 cycle). One table, one page per person. Raw Phase 1 capture: [[_roster-raw]]. Collection and build log: [[_roster-notes]].
Program facts
| Fact | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | "A global community of passionate data experts who share their knowledge, inspire innovation, and make meaningful contributions to the community." | program page |
| 2027 window | "Applications are currently closed and will reopen in November 2026." No close date is published. By analogy with the last cycle (not confirmed): open in November, close late December, announcement January 2027. | program page (checked 2026-09-29) |
| Contribution window | Last cycle: "Strong applicants can show community contributions between December 1, 2024 and November 30, 2025." So the 2027 window is presumably Dec 1, 2025 to Nov 30, 2026 (inference by analogy). | Medium "Adopting the Mindset" |
| Criteria (4 categories) | 1. Content creation ("quality and impact matter more than volume"). 2. Code, tools, or open source (GitHub PRs, Streamlit apps, AI/ML templates, demos). 3. Community engagement (Snowflake Community, Slack, Reddit, Stack Overflow answers; hosting user groups; study groups; product feedback). 4. Event participation (speaking at Summit, BUILD, World Tour; workshops; AMAs). | Medium "Adopting the Mindset" |
| What reviewers weigh | Clear impact; breadth and depth ("consistent contributions across multiple areas"); community-first mindset; authentic passion; forward momentum. | same |
| Press framing | "Four key areas: Snowflake Community Engagement, Content Creation, Snowflake Expert Certification, and Social Media Activity." | CXOToday |
| How selection works | By application (a written "story" of impact) plus peer nominations, accepted year-round (nomination form). Who decides is not stated by Snowflake. UNVERIFIED: one search snippet said "a panel of reviewers"; not traced to any primary page. Community manager and post author: Amilee Alesna. | program page; Medium posts |
| Last cycle timing | 2026 applications closed Fri Dec 26, 2025; cohort announced January 2026. | Medium "Adopting the Mindset" |
| 2026 cohort | 125 people, 25 countries; 39 new, 86 returning (announced Jan 29 and Feb 10, 2026). | CXOToday, Third News |
| 2025 cohort | 105 people (68 returning, 37 new), listed by region. | Medium 2025 post |
| Current directory | 130 people on 2026-09-29: Americas 43, EMEA 44, APJ 43 (via ?tags=region/americas, region/emea, region/apj). Does not exactly match the announced 125; see [[_roster-notes]]. |
program page (Playwright scrape) |
| Term | Annual; members appear to reapply or be re-selected each year (inference from returning/new splits). | Medium 2025; Third News |
| Benefits | Roadmap discussions, monthly enablement, private previews, swag, training and advanced cert opportunities, VIP early invites (e.g. Summit), dedicated channels. | program page; Medium "Adopting the Mindset" |
| phData | Priya Chauhan ([[people/priya-chauhan]]) is the only phData employee on the directory (Sr. Data Engineer, APJ, member since 2025). | program page |
Roster
151 people: the 130 on the current directory plus 21 on the 2025 roster who are no longer listed. Region = the directory's region tag; for 2025-only people, the region heading on the 2025 Medium roster. "Cohorts" lists known years (member-since tag, 2025 roster, 2026 presumed from directory presence); gaps between them are unknown, not absences. Generated by _build_index.py from page frontmatter; do not hand-edit between the markers.

How this folder works
index.md(this file) = the ONE roster table plus program facts. The table is generated: edit the person page, then runpython3 _build_index.py.people/<slug>.md= one page per person, built from [[snowflake-data-superheroes/_template|_template]].depth: stubpages hold only roster facts; do not read "?" as "none"._roster-raw.md= the raw Phase 1 source (kept, not deleted)._roster-notes.md= scraping method and implementation notes.patterns.mdcomes later, once about 30 pages are filled. Until then, cross-profile notes are observations, not patterns.- Rules for every page: public professional facts only, no contact details, nothing more precise than city, a source for each non-trivial claim, inferences labelled.
Batch log
Batch 1 (2026-09-29): 10 profiles most comparable to Ben
Selection rule (from the dispatch): current heroes only, ranked by (1) Americas region, North America first; (2) employed at a Snowflake partner or consultancy; (3) visibly known for AI / GenAI / Cortex / agents work. Priya Chauhan included as the only phData hero. Light lookups used for selection: the directory cards (role + employer) plus three WebSearches for AI/Cortex signals. Candidates were picked before research, so some picks turned out weaker on a criterion than their card suggested; that is recorded, not re-picked.
