The core idea: invest in reusable operating standards (protocols) rather than bespoke solutions (programs). This philosophy runs through the founder’s approach to analytics-engineering — build conventions and patterns that transfer across engagements rather than one-off implementations. It also foreshadows the company’s emphasis on dbt and the modern data stack, which are themselves protocol-like standards for data work.
