No Vendor is Prince Charming

Core Argument

No vendor will save or correct the gaps in your business' analytics. Take responsibility yourself. I know you can do it!

Vendors are needed, but they are no silver bullet. You still need to do the work.

Why It Matters

A companion piece to [[rdco-article-no-consultant-prince-charming|No Consultant is Prince Charming!]]. The founder's argument: buying a tool does not solve the underlying organizational and process problems. You can buy Snowflake, Fivetran, [[dbt]], and Looker -- but if you don't invest in the people, processes, and governance around those tools, you'll just have expensive shelfware.

This is a core Ray Data Co philosophy: tools are enablers, not solutions. The work of [[analytics-engineering]] is fundamentally about building organizational capability, not purchasing vendor products. This anti-silver-bullet stance runs through all of the founder's consulting work.
