Prompt: 3D concept model of our rebuild (three.js)
You are building an interactive 3D concept model with a walk-through of a new single-family home for our lot in South Tampa. Its job: let my wife and me walk through a ~3,600 sq ft house and see that every room we want fits at a comfortable size, before we hire an architect. It is NOT a construction drawing. Make it accurate to the site constraints below, simple, and easy to change.
Deliverable
- One self-contained web page:
index.htmlplus one JS module, using three.js from a CDN (ES modules, OrbitControls). No build step. It must open by double-clicking the file or vianpx serve. - Every dimension lives in one editable
configobject at the top (lot, setbacks, elevations, room list and sizes). Changing a number re-renders. - Scale: 1 unit = 1 foot. North = +Z (see orientation note).
The site (public record, verify before trusting)
- Address: 1212 S Suffolk Dr, Tampa, FL 33629 (Culbreath Bayou / Sunset Park). Folio 120668-0000.
- Lot: 68 ft wide (street frontage) x 130 ft deep = 8,840 sq ft. Interior lot, not a corner. One large live oak stands in the front yard, right of center (the south side, the one with the tree swing); the others were removed. Model it as a trunk + wide canopy and keep the house and driveway clear of its root zone.
- Zoning RS-75 (Tampa Code §27-156): front setback 25 ft, interior side setbacks 7 ft each, rear setback 20 ft, max height 35 ft. No FAR limit listed. The lot is narrower than the RS-75 75-ft minimum; it is legal nonconforming and cleared for rebuild (confirmed by our architect on a prior attempt). No action needed.
- Buildable envelope: 54 ft wide x 85 ft deep (68-7-7, 130-25-20). Draw it as a translucent box so we can see how much of it the house uses.
- Flood: FEMA Zone AE, Base Flood Elevation (BFE) 11.0 ft NAVD88. Our elevation certificate puts the property at 8.9 ft (use it as grade; config value). The site sits a little uphill from the street. New construction must put the lowest finished floor at or above BFE plus freeboard. Model it as BFE + 1 ft = 12.0 ft (config value: not confirmed for Tampa; the architect must verify). That puts the first floor about 3 ft above grade (roughly 5 steps). Show it honestly:
- a raised first floor on a stem wall or fill pad (config: fill height + stem wall height),
- a front entry stair or terraced steps up to the portico,
- the garage allowed to sit lower (garages and storage may be below BFE with flood vents), connected by interior stairs,
- a ground plane at 8.9 ft, a slight slope down to the street, and a faint blue plane at BFE 11.0 ft for reference.
- Orientation: S Suffolk runs north-south; the lot is on the east side of the street and the front faces west (confirmed from a street-view photo taken facing east). Left when facing the house = north. Put the street on the west (-X) side and add a sun-position slider (time of day, and summer vs winter) so we can see afternoon sun on the front and shade on the back lanai.
- Current house (for scale, optional ghost): built 1962, 2 stories, 1,842 heated sq ft.
Room program (our list)
Target total heated area: ~3,600 sq ft (acceptable range 3,450-3,700) over 2 stories. Starting sizes are suggestions; put them in config.
Ground floor:
- Open living room + kitchen (~24x30 combined)
- Pantry (walk-in, ~6x8)
- Breakfast nook, off the kitchen with windows (~10x12)
- Dining room (~13x14)
- Office/study with a door (~12x12). Street-facing is fine.
- Guest bedroom with its own bath, ideally on this floor for visiting grandparents (~12x13 + bath)
- Powder room (half bath) for common areas, accessible (~5x8)
- Laundry (~7x10)
- Garage, at least 2 cars (~22x22), front-loading on the LEFT (north) side of the lot, set back a few feet behind the main facade so it doesn't dominate. The garage can sit at grade (below BFE, with flood vents); steps up into the house.
- Garage → pantry pass-through for unloading groceries: stack garage → mudroom/drop zone → walk-in pantry → kitchen along the north side, so the kitchen still opens to the back lanai.
- Covered front portico (~8 ft deep)
- Back lanai big enough to actually use: covered, ~16 ft deep x the width of the living room, with an outdoor dining + seating layout.
Second floor:
- Primary bedroom (~16x18), primary bath (~12x14), primary walk-in closet (~10x12)
- 3 kids' bedrooms (~12x12 each). Config toggle for 2 or 3; they plan one more child, hopefully two.
- Kids' bathrooms: one Jack-and-Jill between two kids' rooms plus one hall bath (config toggle)
- Playroom / teen hangout / den (~16x18). Upstairs among the kids' rooms is the default; toggle to the ground floor.
- Laundry chute or second-floor laundry: optional toggle.
Style: Mediterranean / Spanish Revival
One style, no toggle. Smooth stucco over block; low-pitch HIPPED clay-tile roof (hurricane-friendly); an arched loggia portico; wrought-iron details; the steps up to the raised entry framed as a feature. Simple materials (colors plus flat roughness); no photoreal textures needed.
Walk-through (the most important feature)
- First-person mode: WASD/arrow keys + mouse look (PointerLockControls), eye height 5.5 ft, collision with walls, stairs walkable between floors. On a phone/tablet: on-screen joystick or tap-to-walk.
- Door openings between rooms (no doors needed), windows as openings on exterior walls.
- Simple furniture blocks at real size so rooms read true: king bed + nightstands in the primary, queen in the guest room, full/twin in kids' rooms, 8-seat table in dining, sectional + TV wall in living, island + counters in the kitchen, desk in the office, 2 cars in the garage, outdoor table + seating on the lanai.
- Floating room labels with name + dimensions + sq ft as you walk in.
- A guided tour button: an automatic camera path that walks from the portico → foyer → living/kitchen → nook → lanai → garage → pantry pass-through → upstairs to each bedroom → playroom.
Views and controls
- Orbit/zoom; preset cameras: street view (eye height across the street), aerial, back yard.
- A "Compare with 4,500 sq ft" toggle: scale the same room list up proportionally to 4,500 heated sq ft and show both totals side by side, so we can see the bigger house adds size, not rooms.
- Toggles: walls cut-away/floor-by-floor (show floor 1 or floor 2 as a labeled plan with room names and sq ft), 2 vs 3 kids' rooms, envelope box, BFE plane, oak, sun slider.
- A live readout: heated sq ft per floor and total, footprint vs envelope %, first-floor elevation vs grade, and a warning if anything crosses a setback or exceeds 35 ft height.
Acceptance checks (show in the page and in your final message)
- House footprint stays inside the 54x85 envelope, and the readout proves it.
- Finished first floor = config value (default 12.0 ft), visibly above the 8.9 ft grade; garage at grade on the north side with the pantry pass-through.
- Total heated area ≈ 3,600 (3,450-3,700) with the defaults, computed from the room boxes plus circulation, not typed in.
- Walk-through works on desktop and a phone, and the guided tour runs start to finish.
- Screenshots of: street view, aerial, floor 1 plan, floor 2 plan.
Things to leave to the architect (list them on the page as "Open questions")
